The CCIAG (Compagnie de Chauffage de Grenoble) manages one of the largest district heating networks in France:

• 5 production sites,
• coverage equivalent to 100,000 ATIM homes.

However, underground water distribution networks have weaknesses: invisible leaks, infiltration, energy efficiency losses, and high repair costs.

For Grenoble, this translates into :

• unjustified water consumption,
• frequent emergency interventions,
• complexity in locating leaks on underground sections.

The aim of the project was to provide a proactive and connected solution to limit these losses, manage interventions, and integrate Grenoble into a smart and resilient city approach.

Project objectives

• Continuously monitor underground networks without destructive intervention
• Detect leaks (small or large) or infiltrations as soon as they occur
• Precisely locate the leak area
• Reduce operating and emergency response costs
• Reduce unaccounted-for water losses
• Provide citizens and the community with a more reliable and sustainable infrastructure
